JANUARY WRAP-UP 2016

Hi, book lovers!

A week has already passed for the month of February but here I am, still yet to reveal my January Wrap-Up. January has been such a great month for my progress in reading. I can say the Books-A-Thon was a huge factor for that. I should really start joining readathons from now on. Haha! So I’ve read a total of seven books in the month of January, three of them were from my Books-A-Thon Wrap-Up which includes Twilight which I’ve already read countless of times. I’ll just have a short review of all of them because I’m a lazy-ass and I just started this blog. (Such an excuse, Kaye, such an excuse.)

BOOKS READ IN JANUARY

Dorothy Must Die – Danielle Paige  4.6/★★★★

I first picked up this book October last year but immediately put it down — not that I didn’t like it, I guess I wasn’t just in the mood for reading at that time. But when I picked it up again, I regretted that I didn’t continue reading it the first time I laid my hands on it. It was really good! There are lots of action and twists that I didn’t see coming. To be honest, I never was a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz for I’ve only seen Oz: the Great and the Powerful but I was so grateful when my sister gave me this book as a present. The writing pace suited the story very well, neither fast nor slow. This is a huge risk for a debut novel so I praise Ms. Danielle Paige. Such a great first book in a promising series.

All the Bright Places – Jennifer Niven  ★★★★★

This book left me with my heart ripped off into pieces and a pool of tears. This is one of the most incredible contemporaries I have ever read! Especially how it is compared to Eleanor & Park and The Fault in Our Stars, I have so much love for those two books so just imagine how high my expectations are. But surprisingly, this turned out to be exceptionally incredible and totally spot-on! Go, read it… R E A D  I T!

The Martian – Andy Weir  ★★★★✩

I picked up this book for its hype and high ratings. I didn’t even know it was already turned into a movie until my brother saw me reading the book and mentioned that it was already turned into a film and how he loved it. This book was fun and super exciting! I must admit I skipped through most of the science stuff but all in all, it was fantastic!

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl – Jesse Andrews  ★✩✩✩✩

I don’t exactly know what to say. I think I am one of those few ones who didn’t really enjoy this book. I guess this is just one of those books where if you love it, you love it, but if you don’t, you don’t. And I didn’t. Although I must say the cover is totally pretty.

I Was Here – Gayle Forman  ★★★★✩

I was totally hooked right from the beginning. The dialogues were perfect. The one thing that I just didn’t like was the romance but all in all, it was fantastic!

Every Last Word -Tamara Ireland Stone  ★★★★★

I ACTUALLY HAVE NO WORDS FOR THIS BOOK! If I could only give it six stars, I definitely would. This book is just so beautifully written and very well done. This is the very best kind of book. I totally recommend it to anyone!
